Shawarma

Shawarma (/ʃəˈwɑːrmə/; Arabies: شاورما‎) is 'n gewilde Midde-Oosterse^[1] gereg wat bestaan uit vleis wat in dun skyfies gesny is, in 'n keëlagtige vorm gestapel en op 'n stadig-draaiende vertikale spit of rotisserie gerooster word. Dit was oorspronklik gemaak met lam of skaapvleis, maar word nou ook van hoender, kalkoen, beesvleis of kalfsvleis gemaak. ^[2][3][4] Dun skywe word van die gaar oppervlak afgekerf terwyl dit voortdurend roteer.^[5][6] Shawarma is een van die wêreld se gewildste straatkosse, veral in Egipte, die lande van die Levant, die Arabiese Skiereiland en die res van die Midde-Ooste.^[7][8]
